Many vessel to vessel operations use large marine fenders like foam filled fenders or pneumatic fenders. The marine fenders used in vessel to vessel transfer operations offshore are divided into two categories.

Pneumatic Rubber Fenders

Primary marine fenders which are positioned along the parallel body of the vessel to afford the maximum possible protection while alongside, and secondary marine fenders which may be used to protect bow and stern plating from inadvertent contact during berthing and unberthing.
